2018 Running Against Ruptures

London Health Sciences Centre

We are participating in Running Against Ruptures on June 24, 2018.

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), one of Canada’s largest acute-care teaching hospitals, is dedicated to excellence in patient care, teaching and research. Since 1875, we have provided patient care for the people of London, the region, and beyond. Many national and international medical breakthroughs have been pioneered at LHSC, to the benefit of patients at home and around the world. Through our affiliation with Western University and more than 30 other educational institutions, we train more than 1,800 medical and health care professionals annually.

LHSC is home to the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences which is primarily located at University Hospital. University Hospital (UH) is the Southwestern Ontario Stroke Network (SWOSN)’s Regional Stroke Centre and is one of 11 regional stroke centres within Ontario. As the Regional Stroke Centre, LHSC provides specialized care in stroke prevention and re-vascularization, as well as hyper-acute and acute care. LHSC acts as the lead agency for the Southwest Region, an area that comprises both the South West and Erie St. Clair LHINs and along with the Regional Stroke Centre has 5 local District Stroke Centres (in Windsor, Sarnia, Chatham, Owen Sound, and Stratford).

OUR MISSION: An academic hospital, committed to improving health and delivering value for citizens of London, the South West Region and beyond. Building on our tradition of leadership, stewardship and partnership, we champion patient-centred care, with a spirit of inquiry and discovery, and a commitment to life-long learning.
